Introducing Our Newest Holiday Event!
Jingle & Mingle In The Kitchen!
A Micro-Merry Event with Edible Reindeer Games
At The Culinary Center of Kansas City, we take this Holiday Party thing very seriously. It’s what we’ve done for years to rave reviews. And boy howdy, we have seen ’em all – corporate events, cooking competitions, client appreciation parties, family gatherings and holiday weddings, not to mention the famous Frozen-themed event where we all dressed as ice princesses and kids ate an unrealistic amount of sugary desserts for 90 minutes and then went back to their waiting parents. (Seriously, it was EPIC! Everyone had a blast, kids and staff.) So yes, we definitely ‘jingle all the way’…’cause no one likes a half-ass jingler.
It should come as no surprise that last year’s Holiday Party was less than stellar. You could even say it DIDN’T glow if you know what I mean. We began holding classes again in our kitchens as soon as June 2020, but understandably, larger groups were hesitant to bring their people together even into the holidays. Thankfully, a lot has changed in the past year and let’s just say we are making up for lost party time! The timeless ability to come together and celebrate is alive and well again!
Enter one of our newest holiday party concepts: Jingle & Mingle In The Kitchen! A Micro-Merry Event with Edible Reindeer Games. We will be decking out our Santa Fe Kitchen in full holiday décor and turning it into Overland Park’s hottest holiday-themed bar! We are offering these in 2-hour sessions on Saturdays during the season. You choose the session and then join us for some seriously amazing cocktails, fun, a culinary-themed activity (read: Reindeer Game); gourmet snacks for purchase and some general good cheer! Note that our 3:00PM session is open to kids (ages 7-20 with each kid accompanied by an adult), otherwise these micro-parties are for adults 21 and up.
Seating is limited to each session (generally around 16), so when we say micro-events, we mean it. Come by yourself (we don’t judge), bring a date, party with your besties, or throw tinsel to the wind and book all 16 spots for a small private party! It’s possibly the easiest party you will ever plan!
Each registration includes:
- A Guaranteed Spot in the session you signed up for.
- Two seasonally-themed cocktails created especially for the Jingle & Mingle events. Hot chocolate and non-alcoholic drinks are available, too. Since all of our events are interactive, you may even find yourself helping craft part of your drink if you are so inclined!
- A Tasty Holiday Activity, such as
- Bad-Ass Elf Ornament Cookies
- Griswald’s Lit-Up Tree Cupcakes
- Holly’s ‘Old School’ Christmas Cookies
- Chocoholic Truffles
- Or go all crazy elf on yourself and choose Rudolph’s Reindeer Game – a surprise edible holiday treat kit. Work as a team or compete against your group to see who will reign supreme.
Currently, Mix & Mingle in the Kitchen Micro Party Sessions are being held on Saturdays from Thanksgiving through Christmas (November 27th, December 4th, 11th, and 18th). But when these fill, we will likely add more on other dates. Reservations are for 3-5PM, 5-7PM and 7-9PM only. This is a “spirited” holiday event, so the 5:00 and 7:00 session are geared towards adults 21 and older. The 3:00 session does allow for kids (7 years through 20) and each kids under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
UPDATE: More dates have been added on Thursdays and Fridays at 5:00PM and 7:00PM. Again, these classes are for adults (21+) only. The new dates are
- Thursday Nov. 26th
- Friday Dec. 3rd
- Thursday Dec. 9th
- Thursday Dec. 16th
- Friday Dec. 17th
We still have all the Saturday dates, but several have sold out.

Some FAQs For You
Has The Culinary Center ever offered these kinds of events before?
Not under this title, but we have DEFINITELY offered similar events. These Jingle & Mingle events are really a reflection of everything we do. Interactive culinary events are our stock in trade as well as cooking classes, special events and other unique seasonal events. And of course, we know a thing or two about preparing top notch food and drink. We do realize that folks may be looking for smaller events this year in addition to larger events so we feel like the Jingle & Mingle sessions offer this opportunity not just to companies with smaller staffs but to everyone! Of course if you’d like to talk holiday parties for groups larger than 16-20, we would love to do hear your desires. We have been customizing events for 23 years now. Just click here and provide a few deets and we’ll get right back with you or contact Heather at email@example.com or 913-341-4455.)
Will there be food at these events?
Your registration fee does not include any snacks beyond the culinary-themed activities you will be making. There will be additional food items available for purchase if desired. Our chefs have designed a holiday-themed menu of gourmet, snacky items. Your activity will be edible too assuming you don’t want to pack it up and take it home to show off your handiwork. Who wouldn’t want to do that? Alas, you can eat that while you are here if you like.
Can I bring in my own snacks and/or drinks to these events?
Our chefs would have sad faces if you didn’t eat the food they prepared. So the answer is unfortunately no.
Can I designate the interactive holiday activity I would like to do in advance?
You will be given the opportunity to choose from the activities available at that session but you won’t be able to choose in advance. We promise that each activity will be merry though. Does that help?
Can the folks I register to attend with choose to create a competition out of our activities that we choose?
Does Rudolph have a red nose? I think so. We will even facilitate that with judging and prizes. We love competition. It tickles our tinsel.
Can my child come to a 5:00PM or 7:00PM session?
Sorry, but no one under 21 years of age will be allowed to participate in the 5:00pm and 7:00pm sessions. We will definitely be carding individuals for these two evening sessions. When you register, we have no way of knowing how old the attendee is so please help us avoid disappointment to your child (and you!) when we can’t allow them to participate and we can’t provide a refund to you.
Can I bring my child who is 6 or less years old to the 3:00PM session?
Sorry, but kids 7 and up are the ages allowed at the 3:00PM sessions. When you register, we have no way of knowing how old the attendee is so please help us avoid disappointment to your child (and you!) when we can’t allow them to participate and we can’t provide a refund to you.
Can I bring my child 6 or under to the 3:00PM session just to watch but not to participate?
Darn it anyway, but we have to say no to that for these events. Whether you register and pay for your younger child, they will not be allowed to stay and watch.
I don’t drink alcohol. Is the price the same?
Admission is $55 per person. This includes two drinks, regardless of whether you choose to have them with or without alcohol. You also receive a guaranteed spot in the session, your choice of a fun, culinary themed holiday activity…and the good cheer. That’s worth something right?
Can I sign up for two consecutive Jingle & Mingle Sessions so that I can stay longer than 2 hours?
Whatever jingles your bells is fine with us. And as for what you receive…. it’s double the fun for you because you’ll get double the amount of drinks, activities …as well as double the amount of fun. Aren’t you clever? Just let us know in the ‘Comments’ box when you register so we are on notice.
I want to book a group but the class description online shows less seats available. Can you add two additional seats to a time slot if requested?
Probably not, as we’ve designed these events to be micro events. However, you can always call us just to check. There could be circumstances where a couple of folks could be admitted to complete your party. Also if you would like to book your group for a Jingle & Mingle at another time slot that is not listed, please click here and let us know what you have in mind or call/email Heather directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or 913-341-4455.
I’d like to sign up my grandkids for the 3:00pm session but I don’t need to participate so I would prefer not to register. I just want to come and watch.
These are micro-parties so each seat counts. We would love to have you and your grandkids (ages 7 and up) participate in this event, but each person will need to register and pay for a seat. This would be whether you choose to participate or not.
