Keeping You Safe

Posted December 22, 2021

The Culinary Center of Kansas City has been hosting cooking classes, corporate team buildings, special events and private parties for over 23 years. Since day one, the safety and well being of everyone in our kitchens has been our number one priority. Whether it’s food safety or air safety, we have always and will continue to take all appropriate precautions to ensure a safe work and learning environment.  Since the emergence of COVID in early 2020, we have been listening to the authorities and following the science.  We immediately began hosting online classes and in May of 2020 began offering small in-house demonstration-only classes.  We then gradually moved back towards more hands-on classes,  with appropriate distancing and precautions of course.  Additionally, as we began hosting in-house classes, we shortened the period in which a class could be cancelled from 5 days to 3 days (thus allowing full refund or rescheduling) to accommodate changing schedules and comfort levels.

With the increased concern about the most recent variant, we wanted to ensure you that The Culinary Center of Kansas City is still doing everything possible to keep its staff and guests safe and have continued to add additional precautions to mitigate the spread of airborne viruses when visiting us.  Our current protocols are as follows:

We have installed FarUV Technologies’ Krypton-Shield lighting to effectively disinfect the air and surfaces and kill up to 99.9% of pathogens associated with Covid-19, cold & flu, foodborne illnesses, mold and more. These state-of-the-art lights are installed in all our kitchens, common areas and The Kitchen Shop. This technology is currently being used in The Pentagon, hospitals and schools throughout the country.

  • We’ve reduced the number of participants in on-site classes allowing for social distancing when cooking and dining.
  • We are following CDC guidance, as it rolls out and changes from time to time, as it relates to recommended mask-wearing, etc.
  • As always, we practice continuous cleaning and sanitizing of all surfaces, utensils and fixtures.
  • When you are visiting, there will be gloves and hand sanitizer available in guest areas.

We feel confident that our efforts exceed all applicable requirements, however, we continue to support whatever additional safety measures each guest might need to make them feel comfortable, to the extent that we can.  We have been back in the kitchen for nearly 18 months and look forward to continue teaching in person!  For a list of our class offerings click here.
