These burgers will have you cheering before the game even starts. They’re just that gouda. Enjoy them at your tailgate and… Go Royals!
- 1 tablespoon onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
- ¼ cup smoked Gouda cheese, finely shredded
- Oil, for grill
- 2 hamburger buns, split
- Lettuce leaves and tomato slices (optional)
In a small bowl add onion, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper and stir to combine. Add beef by crumbling into bowl and mix together, using hands. Shape meat mixture into 4 thin patties. Sprinkle cheese over 2 of the patties and top with remaining patties, pressing edges firmly to seal together. Preheat grill to medium heat and oil grates. Transfer patties to grill and cook for 6 minutes on each side or until an instant-read thermometer reads 160 degrees and juices run clear. To serve, add hamburger bun bottom to individual serving plates. Top each with 1 patty and top half of bun. Serve warm.Â
Makes 2 servings.
