Matt Chatfield is the executive chef at The Culinary Center of Kansas City
Matt has 28 years experience in the restaurant business. After apprenticing under some of KC’s finest chefs through the Johnson County Community College Culinary Arts Program, he continued his career in country clubs, hotels and private businesses. He competes in various local food contests and is a practicing Black Belt in Shotokan Karate of America. Matt enjoys gardening, sports and being a Dad.  He and his  wife, Sophia (also an executive chef) have beautiful three year old triplet daughters.
Matt decided to pursue a culinary career based on how much he loves delicious food (and loves to eat!). From a young age, he had an artistic talent; he found a way to apply that love to a field for which he has a true passion. Matt thinks he has the best Chef position in town, based on the fact that he gets to teach and share his passion, knowledge, and talent of cooking with people from every walk of life.
His cooking philosophy is simple: freshest ingredients, understanding the dishes you are cooking, and putting your love and soul into what you make. The result has to be great! Bon Appétit!
